What we look at, inside.
Within the validated Aira protocol, a radiologist reviews your liver and abdominal organs for important findings, where detectable.
-
1
Liver
May help identify fatty liver-related findings, where detectable.
-
2
Visceral fat
Fat stored deep around the organs, assessed as part of the abdominal picture.
-
3
Kidneys & abdominal organs
A detailed anatomical view of the kidneys and other abdominal organs.
-
4
Masses or lesions
May help identify tumour-related findings in the abdomen, where detectable.
What a scan can show varies from person to person. Aira is a screening, not a diagnosis. Your doctor explains any finding and the next steps.
Lifestyle shows up inside.
Fatty liver and visceral fat can build up gradually, often without symptoms. Understanding your risk factors is a proactive first step.
-
Weight, diet & activity
A higher body mass index and a processed-food-heavy diet are common contributors.
-
Diabetes or insulin resistance
Type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance are closely linked to fatty liver risk.
-
Alcohol
Regular alcohol consumption is a recognised contributing factor.
-
Sedentary lifestyle
Limited activity compounds metabolic risk over time.
-
Age 35 and over
Metabolic changes from 35 onwards make abdominal awareness more relevant.
Two focused screenings. One scan.
Fatty liver screening
Fatty liver can develop quietly. Liver imaging may help identify related findings, earlier.
Most relevant with
- Weight & diet
- Diabetes
- Alcohol
Visceral fat & abdominal mass screening
Assesses visceral abdominal fat and may help identify tumour-related findings in the abdomen.
Most relevant with
- Sedentary lifestyle
- Family history
- Age 35+
Your blood test is one layer. Aira adds another.
Liver function blood tests measure enzyme and metabolic markers. Whole Body MRI adds a structural view of the liver and abdomen, including visceral fat, that blood tests can’t give on their own.
Different tests. Different information. One broader picture.

Questions about abdomen & liver screening
Yes. Liver and abdominal imaging is included within every Aira Whole Body MRI based health checkup, and Aira Plus and Aira Complete add a nutritionist consultation.
It may help identify fatty liver-related findings, where detectable within the protocol. It is a screening, not a diagnosis. Your doctor explains any finding and the next steps.
A liver function blood test measures enzymes and metabolic markers. MRI adds a structural view of the liver itself. They give different information and work well together.
No ionising radiation. MRI uses magnetic fields and radio waves, and in most cases there are no injections or contrast agents.
A typical Whole Body MRI takes about 45 to 60 minutes. You lie comfortably in an open-bore scanner while the imaging is completed.
No. Aira is a screening for people who feel well. Severe abdominal pain, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or vomiting blood needs urgent care now. Please call 112 or go to the nearest hospital.
